This workshop is a discussion of the varied nutritional needs and digestive capacity of all ostomates post stomal surgery.   Stomal surgery can be a large and life-changing operation with many positive aspects and possible pitfalls, and the outcome for individuals can vary depending on many factors.  Some people can have stomal surgery and hardly miss a step, whilst others experience significant repercussions that are chronic and deeply entrenched.

The Novice Wound Assessment Workshop provides the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and clinical reasoning in the management of complicated and uncomplicated wounds. This workshop aims to teach nurses in clinical practice, up to date, evidence based care and management of patients and clients who experience various wound pathologies.

The consensus amongst eminent scientists and wound clinicians is that biofilms cause chronic wounds or alternatively, chronic wounds contain biofilm.  Wound bed preparation and biofilm based wound management are relatively synonymous terms for creating an environment in chronic wounds which is conducive to healing.  Wound cleansing and debridement are paramount interventions in this endeavour.
